In search of a great white wine, we went to the high plains of Rueda, a historic region where we continue to explore its impressive potential for creating wines that are light, fresh, and aromatic.

In the highest lands of the easternmost part of Rioja, where we cultivate the vines that are the first to see the sun rise, a unique character is born, denoting purity, concentration, joy and life. The new Edición Limitada by Bodegas Ramón Bilbao holds within it the best of the Mediterranean climate with all the freshness, floral aromas and light of the dawn in Monte Yerga.

Curiosity and the quest for maximum freshness led us to the highest areas of Rioja to work with two varieties full of character. A wine that is half Tempranillo and half Garnacha, from our own vineyards at over 700 metres.

This is a Verdejo that looks toward new horizons, charting a distinct course of complexity and elegance. This wine invites sensory enjoyment, revealing aromatic depth and a silky texture that enriches the experience.

The most floral, herbal, and vibrant expression of the Verdejo grape, presented without any embellishments. Sourced directly from the vineyard, it boasts a pure, authentic, and flavorful character, making it sure bet for repeated enjoyment.

The first harvested grapes are characterised by maximum freshness and lightness, resulting in a straightforward, festive and authentic rosé. Thanks to careful vineyard handling to enable early harvesting, it has a lower alcohol content. This is the rosé that will set trends.

Reserva is a wine that perfectly combines Rioja’s classic ingredients, Tempranillo and American oak, with the addition of Ramón Bilbao's unique personality and style.

A Rioja from a lesser-known area of the Sierra de Yerga, where the altitude tempers the summer heat and is exposed to the strong northwesterly and easterly winds. The landscape, at the highest point in the eastern area of La Rioja, is notably shaped by the Mediterranean climate. Aromas of thyme, rosemary, and holm oak are central to this distinctive region.

This wine explores the westernmost region of Rioja with two indigenous and rare varieties that thrive in an extreme climate with influences from the refreshing Atlantic. The landscape is shaped by the Obarenes Mountains and the rivers Oja and Tirón, which provide a unique environment. This is the last area to be harvested in Rioja.

Mirto is a wine made exclusively in exceptional years, using the best old vines from eight villages near Haro. Fermentation is carried out separately, and then just one or two vats are selected. This wine is perfect for those seeking excellence, complexity, and the elegance of a true icon.

At over 500 metres, Finca Lalinde shares its space with scrub oak forest, holm oak, and the Mediterranean underbrush. Our 5.4 hectares of Garnacha and Viura capture the rugged landscape’s austere beauty and mountain freshness that descends from Yerga. Here, the persistent western wind is in constant dialogue with nature. The limestone surface underlines the austere and essential character of this environment.

Altitude, balance, and wild forest. Near the small village of Villalba, at the most extreme edge of Rioja Alta, Finca Valhonta (2.8 ha) receives protection from the pine forest that covers the slope of the Obarenes Mountains. Here, we are at the limits of vine cultivation, both in terms of altitude and the climatic conditions, which are markedly influenced by continental and Atlantic elements.

Upon the fan-shaped foothills of Monte de Yerga, in the heart of Eastern Rioja, our six hectares of Finca Ladero are home to a unique interplay between the aridity of the Mediterranean interior, and the fresher, somewhat more humid influence of the elevated areas of these foothills of the Sistema Ibérico.
